It's time to apply for Financial Aid!

If you plan to enroll in college for the 2008-2009 academic year, it's time to apply for financial aid. Apply as early as possible beginning January 1st of each year. You can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid - the basic application for all federal aid and many state, institutional and private aid programs. To apply online, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov and get started! Remember that you will need to register for a PIN to sign your form electronically.

The FAFSA collects income information for you (and your parents if you are a dependent student) using your IRS 1040 for 2007. If you will not file your tax forms until April, should you wait to complete your FAFSA?  Keep in mind that aid is limited and students who file early will have the greatest chance of receiving the most aid. Check the financial aid deadline for the colleges you are applying to and for your state financial aid program. You can use estimated tax data to make sure that the application is submitted by the stated deadlines.

For help with completing the FAFSA, visit our College Info Center.
